Keynote

‘The technological jigsaw’
Are we still trying to fit tech into the curriculum or is it time to fit a curriculum into the tech?

Brief - Children today are sitting in classrooms that are really no different to those of my primary school days in the 1970’s. The use of technology is the only noticeable addition. But is this powerful tool being used to its full potential or is it been used to prop up a curriculum struggling with the weight of change? Isn’t time that we created a digital curriculum rather than merely digitising it.

My keynote will focus on the use of technology as an embedded tool within the classroom, one that learners of any age can call upon and use, that engages and promotes creativity. One that teachers can use to promote their professional development and learn from others. One that brings together the best practice from all over the world so that the children in your class can benefit and excel.

(@bethanywindsor)

A fellow ICT specialism and Leicester PGCE graduate (class of 2009)! I am currently working in a suburban school on the outskirts of Peterborough as the joint ICT Coordinator, teaching Year 3. I am in my second year of teaching, having been a Year 3 teaching assistant in the private sector and BA (Hons) Psychology undergraduate at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne prior to being let loose in my own class!

I’m coming to Leicester to explain how you can go from A (PGCE) to B (2nd year, coordinator) and get in plenty of the great ideas Doug’s imparted along the way!
